While Desaru has plenty to offer throughout the year, it’s best to get an idea of what you can or can’t do according to Desaru’s weather and seasons:

  • Best months: March to October is best for beach activities because of its bright and sunny weather.
  • Monsoon season: November to February will see heavy rain. If you’re looking for sunny weather, avoid visiting during this period.
  • Peak season: June to August will be the most busy with tourists, so it will be more crowded and potentially more expensive.
  • Off-peak season: March to April or September to October will see a dip in crowds, offering a more relaxed experience.
  • Wettest month: December.

To get to Desaru, you can do so by car, bus, ferry, or by taking a taxi from Singapore. For us, the best and most convenient way was using a Singapore to Desaru private taxi service like SGJBTAXIS.SG.

We enjoyed the direct transfer from Singapore to our resort in Desaru, making it a stress-free journey.

Note:

  • During the North-East monsoon season (October to February), the ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal will be diverted to Tanjung Pengelih Ferry Terminal.

The monsoon season is also known as the low season or off-season for tourists.

Heavy rainfall, strong winds, and choppy seas make it unsuitable for activities like swimming or hanging out on the beach.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Because the waves are the highest, it’s the perfect time for surfing!

The monsoon season also means less crowds and lower prices. If you like the sound of this, then travelling during this period might be for you!

Tip:

  • Since you can’t go swimming in the ocean, have a splashing good time at Desaru Waterpark instead.
  • Dash Outdoors conducts surf lessons during these months.
  • Many resorts and attractions will have promotions during this time to attract more tourists.
